Senior Strategy Director

The opportunity

One of Seattle’s fastest growing private agencies is on the hunt for a talented brand strategy and creative leader. This is a rare opportunity to get in on the ground floor and help accelerate the growth of this brand development venture. This person will be partnering with executive leadership, including the CSO, as a force for innovative brand thinking, tackling high impact and agency critical projects, building their and the agency’s reputation as a holder of unique sight on the potential for markets and brands. The idea candidate has 12+ years of experience leading strategic and creative efforts and has experience working in a similar sized agency or brand.

Who you are
  • Business-level thinker | The altitude of your ideas and your area of impact is a company’s and brand problems and vision, it’s equity with people, and its trajectory in culture and the market it operates in
  • Collaborative leader | Your gravity with teams and clients comes from your unique perspective and ability to create space for both people and ideas through your work.
  • Audience obsessed | Whether from a research study or an overheard conversation at the neighborhood bodega, your richest input, your rudder and inspiration point are the people you’re trying to reach.
  • Believer in unpretentious process | Not precious with your process, you get more from sharing early rough thinking than reviewing polished work and you believe that sometimes the best discovery happens in the doing.
  • A creator | Your senior perspective doesn’t come with a distance from the making of the work; your standard posture is leaned in and loving the labor of crafting something new.
What you love and are great at doing
  • Brand strategy & creative planning | You develop sharp and generative strategic ideas that open doors to strengthen client’s brand position, create new value for their business and their customers, and set clear avenues for creative exploration
  • Exec-level presentation & workshops | You are at home engaging with C-suite level clients in both presentation and work session environments, confident in communication and powerful in relationship building
  • The game plan | You start projects by setting altitude in questions and thinking, competently marshalling yourself and team; you see the whole gameboard, can orchestrate the moving pieces, developing and documenting clear paths forward
  • Research | You lead qual and quantitative research with an eye for what’s useful and a bias towards outputs that inspire vs manuals that gather digital dust
  • Briefs | Whether a more traditional word doc, a PowerPoint presentation, or a simple photo of a whiteboard, you’re able to craft strong briefs fitting whatever best serves your project and team
  • Leaps of faith | Through your work, process, and relationships, you help your clients and team experiment with new thinking and explore fresh approaches to known problems
  • Creative directing | Working with and guiding your creative team is second nature at all stages of the process; it’s as natural for them to be in the strategy work as it is for you to be in the creative work

  • Part of senior agency team of leaders, tackling big bet, highly-visibility projects
  • Lead and manage brand strategy & creative planning for strategic initiatives, programs, and campaigns
  • Tackle brand strategy-focused projects - think positioning, messaging, brand platform concepting and development, identity design, product innovation etc.

  • Contribute thinking to other areas of strategic work (e.g., communications and activation efforts); primary weight is on brand and business strategy
  • Cross-agency support; not aligned to a single client
  • Support business development
  • Support the building of agency muscles and rhythms, helping cement agency practices
